All about me

My passion for photography started many moons ago when I was at school and my physics teacher introduced us to the dark room. I loved the development process and thought the whole operation from capturing the image to producing prints was magic! I went on to do a degree in Chemistry and subsequently worked in the City but I still kept snapping. It wasn't until I took a career break after my fourth child (yes, 4, crazy) that I was able to pursue photography more seriously. In 2006 I started a part time course and in 2009 I obtained my City & Guilds qualification and my licentiate from the Royal Photographic Society.

Photography has such appeal to me as a combination of Science and Art, not always present in the same proportions but always there together. Knowledge of the science behind the camera's operations is important for the technical aspects of photography together with understanding the science of light. The artistic side comes from the imagination of the photographer and the 'feel' of the image created.

Since 2009 I have combined freelance photography with various roles in the education sector including website technician, art and science technician, marketing officer and photography club tutor. From such I bring a wealth of experience and just a few grey hairs (OK maybe more than a few). I work from my studio in Wokingham and on location as required.
