This is another project that encourages the photographer to look carefully and in more detail at their surroundings. Patterns are everywhere in the environment, occurring naturally or in man made objects. This exercise also encourages the photographer to look at things from different angles.

Leaves often have a pattern from the veins running through them or grouped together they may make a pattern; flowers also have patterns in the way their petals or seeds are grouped. Man made structures such as brick walls and fencing often have a repeating element that creates a pattern. Animals and their skins are also a great source of patterns but these are not always available!
